Landscaping season is almost upon us, the snow is melting, the days are longer, and everything is starting to turn green. It is the time of year when we visit our local garden nursery to check out the available plants, flowers, herbs, shrubs, vines, trees, or whatever it is that tickles your fancy when it comes to the great joy of landscaping. There is plenty to do, but thankfully, weekends are the perfect opportunity for such an occasion. If you are looking to spruce up the yard this year, think about implementing a few of these ideas to help make your yard look aesthetically pleasing.
Put in a Walk Way
Nothing makes a yard come together like an inviting walkway. Fortunately, you can really use lots of different materials like: stone, brick, stamped concrete, or even crushed stone. It will really pull the yard together as you stroll from your patio to your garden to your backyard gate. You will also keep unwanted feet from trampling the grass.
Add a Berm and Go Wild
The things that you can do with a berm are amazing. A berm is a man-made mound of earth. They were once used for defense, but now they are used to make your yard look fabulous. Berms break up the boring grass by adding a little boldness and texture to your yard. Adding a berm isn’t difficult, you just need some type of fill: soil, asphalt, sand, etc. Add a tree or shrubbery, colorful flowers and a splash of rocks, and you just might be looking at a best yard award.
Let There Be Light, On Your Walk Way
You are going to put a lot of effort into making that yard look beautiful, so why should it be enjoyed only during the day but not at nighttime? Landscaping lights help accomplish this feat, and they are fairly inexpensive. Putting them along walk ways and paths is a beautiful way to illuminate your yard and gives it a majestic appeal.
I Got a Rock
If you want to add a bold statement to your yard that can’t be missed, get a big giant rock. What is bolder than a rock? It is eternal and that it will stand the test of time. Landscaping rocks come in many different sizes, colors, and shapes. Placing a rock anywhere in your yard is an opportunity to add something that will always look good, and you don’t even have to water it.
If You Are Brave Enough Add a Pond or a Waterfall
It takes a little time and some money, but nothing stands out in a yard more than a waterfall cascading down into a pond. There is just something about the ambiance that water creates with the sound of the water trickling down, the way it moves and mesmerizes and binds us with its spell. Coming home from a hard day’s work and sitting in your yard to enjoy the tranquility that comes along with a waterfall is indescribable. It will take some effort, but everything that is worth it in life does. Your effort will be repaid tenfold just by experiencing the wonder and peace that a flowing waterfall brings into your life.
